Fred's House have just released their new single "Fine Life" to critical acclaim including For Folk Sake's Track of the Day and grabbing 4 and 5 star reviews across the board.
Fred's House have many a festival appearance including Cambridge Folk Festival, Secret Garden Party and Bestival. The band have been main support for Eddi Reader, The Wonderstuff, Kyla La Grange, Lucy Rose, World Party and many more. They have received national airplay on Tom Robinson's show BBC 6Music, Frank Hennessy's Celtic Heartbeat show on BBC Radio Wales as well as recently having live sessions on BBC Introducing, BBC Local Radio and many other local radio stations. They have also had their music featured on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.
In February 2010 "Griff and Vix", a London based couple and duo, were set to record a few of their songs with producer NoisyFred. Griff’s brother Gafyn had been playing with Cambridge band "The Wentways", but they had just lost their front man due to artistic differences. They asked Gafyn if he would play bass for their recordings, to which he replied, 'I'll bring the whole band!' So it was at Fred's house where they spent the weekend in the studio and with brother’s Griff and Gafyn playing together once again and everything falling quickly into place, Griff and Vix inherited a whole rhythm section and lead guitarist Lachlan Golder overnight. They played their first gig together a week later in the Big Smoke. These recordings made up the band’s first E.P. demo - Fred's House.
For the last two and a half years the band have been performing as a quartet with bassist Gafyn taking on the rhythm section, playing bass, kick drum and hi-hat with his feet as well as backing vocals. However, since July of this year Fred's House have been enjoying a bigger and fuller sound as they welcome drummer and percussionist Paul Richards to the band. Paul has been a friend of the band for a while and they are delighted he will be recording tracks on their debut album and joining them for as many shows as possible! However the band will still be playing some acoustic shows as a four piece at folk and acoustic clubs.
Fred’s House are currently recording a debut album. The single 'Fine Life' was released digitally April 2013 and now 'Fine Life & Too Late To Go Home' are now available on a double A-side CD, as well as 'Looking Glass' EP and their debut E.P. 'Fred’s House' are both available from The Shop and online from all good stores.
