Marmalade sessions

fantastic session musicians doing what they do best!

From 2pm until 6pm

Don't miss this coup of a Sunday afternoon session (thanks to the indefatigable Will Ballard) at The Pomfret Arms, 10 Cotton End, Northampton, NN4 8BS

A great Gypsy Jazz session with 'HOT MOCAMBO' - dedicated to the late, great Pete 'The Duke' Watkins.

The amazing line-up includes the great musicians and lovers of Django:

........................... on his Futur Quintet ensemble: “You’ve done that wonderful thing, captured a series of virtuoso performances but it’s all about the vibe and the whole” – Ed O’Brien (Radiohead)

“John Wheatcroft is an exceptional musician. As a guitarist, he possesses extraordinary virtuosity. His compositions and arrangements are powerful and dynamic. His Ensemble Futur quintet presents an exciting modern take on Django’s gypsy jazz tradition” – Phil Castang (International Guitar Foundation & Festivals)

Martin has played with a who's who of world renowned stars across a variety of idioms and is one of the best in the business. For all that, his passion for the timeless music of Django remains undimmed. Martin, for many years a mainstay of the Van Morrison Band, has worked with, among many others, Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Chevalier Brothers, King Pleasure, Ray Gelato, Al Green, Georgie Fame, Robert Palmer, PP Arnold and, of course, our own Uncle Eric! (watch this space for news of an upcoming reunion)

WILL BALLARD (guitar)

Will is an experienced exponent of the Django style and has collaborated with some, if not most, of the genres leading lights. He also teaches the style at prestigious venues, such as Wavendon Stables.

Nye is one of the region's most solid and prolific bass players. Possessing great musicality, there are not many seasoned players that have not had to call on his talents.

Andy Shaw (diet)

Nothing much to be said here, frankly.....
